DHA: Department of Home Affairs
DHA is responsible for issues such as immigrant and refugees, elements of child trafficking and child pornography.
DOE: Department of Education
DOE is responsible for issues such as compulsory education; monitoring of children at school who are risk of engaging in child labour; the reintegration of child labour victims back into appropriate educational services; and other elements of CT, CSEC and CUBAC.
DOJCD: Department of Justice and Constitutional Development
Information regarding the completion and exit of the programme Towards the Elimination of the worst forms of Child Labour (TECL). The Department is responsible for issues such as CUBAC and, elements of CT, CSEC and immigrant and refugees. Abbreviation often used on website: DOJ.
DOL: Department of Labour
DOL is the lead department in government on issues of child labour, and on implementation of the Child Labour Programme of Action (CLPA). It also carries primary responsibility for enforcement of basic legal provisions on child labour, and on health and safety at work.
DSD: Department of Social Development
DSD is responsible for all issues relating to children, including such as immigrant and refugees, elements of CT, CSEC, CUBAC, Follow-the-child and child labour monitoring.
DWAF: Department of Water Affairs and Forestry
The department is responsible for providing safe water resources to households, releasing children and women from carrying water over long distances.
NPA: National Prosecuting Authority
The department is responsible for issues such as child trafficking and elements of immigrant and refugees and CUBAC.
NT: National Treasury
NT advisors assist departments with budgets, incl. assisting departments with key responsibilities on child labour to provide in their budgets for these responsibilities. The NT assists the Department of Labour, as lead on issues of child labour, in costing the implementation of the Child Labour Programme of Action.
SAPS: South African Police Service
The department is responsible for elements on issues such as CUBAC, CSEC, CT, Children used in liquor outlets and manufacturing thereof and immigrant and refugee children.
