Up one levelThis was the last meeting of the Implementation Committee before the formal ending of the first phase of the programme Towards the Elimination of the worst forms of Child Labour (TECL I), end June 2008. This meeting was followed by a celebration of the World Day Against Child Labour - see here the link to related press releases and speeches.
- IC minutes - 11 June 2008
- Implementation Committee minutes as finalised by DOL in August 2008. A full briefing on TECL II was given at the meeting, and the meeting supported the strategy in principle. All stakeholders committeed to provide further comment on the draft Prodoc, when it is circulated in July 2008.

- TECL February 2008 report to IC - referred to in its June 2008 report. It contained a summary overview of achievements of the first phase of TECL and its partners over the past four years, and the challenges that remain.
- World Day Against Child Labour (WDACL)
- Click here for the press releases and speeches linked to the WDACL event that followed immediately after the IC meeting, on 11 June 2008. The ILO speech, issued as a media release, noted that South Africa had made sound progress over the last five years towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating child labour but – with an estimated one million children still engaged in child labour – the country needs to intensify its efforts.
