Child labour training, Turin, Italy, Jun-Oct 2008
Go on a training course to increase your knowledge and skills! Courses offered: worst forms of child labour in agriculture, and child labour and education.
If you are interested, you need to take action QUICKLY!
The International Labour Organisation's International Training Centre in Turin, Italy, is offering two courses (the first in June, the second in October 2008) for government, partners and stakeholders interested in building further capacity and awareness on child labour issues.
The courses on offer and their dates are listed below. By clicking on the relevant course, you can download a pamphlet on that course:
- 1. Worst forms of child labour in agriculture [June 2008]
- 2. Child labour and education: a capacity building and training workshop [October 2008]
If you are already working closely on one or more of these child labour issues the courses can further strengthen you or your colleagues' abilities to engage in this area.
If so, we encourage you to consider attending the course most relevant to you, and also to inform your colleagues about the courses.
The costs of these courses are set out in the relevant
pamphlet - click on the links above. There are limited fellowships
available, covering the training costs and subsistence while in Turin.
However, your organisation should be able to cover at least the cost of
the flight from SA to Turin and other costs related to travel, such as
visas. It would be best if your institution can cover all the
costs.
If you are from outside of Southern Africa, we suggestion you get
hold of the field office of the International Programme on the
Elimination of Child labour (IPEC) in your country or subregion - or
contact
the International Training Centre, Turin.
South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland
Information relevant to potential participants from the above
countries, assisted by the progrtamme Towards the Elimination of the
worst forms of Child Labour (TECL): TECL will not be able to assist
with costs of travel of potential participants - since the first phase
of TECL project is coming to an end in June 2008, and the TECL II
project will not be running yet by October.
If you or one of your colleagues would like to attend, please send an email to Suzanne (see details below) preferably by Monday 5 May 2008, indicating which course you are interested in. Please send us this email even if you still have to follow internal procedures in your institution to obtain agreement to attend training.
As most of us have lengthy internal approval processes, we also
encourage you to begin seeking permission immediately to avoid undue
delays.
