Good practices on addressing child labour in Africa
Across Africa, there are successful efforts taking root that are grounded in African initiative, energy and creativity.
Success Africa II shares some of those stories and describe what can happen through the coordinated efforts of governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, international agencies and donors to make decent work a reality. It offers a chance to learn about innovative efforts to support more people living in poverty with the tools to build better lives for themselves and their families.
This publication, the second one in a series, brings together 38 cases of successful activities to promote employment generation and other aspects of decent work as a means of improving people’s lives.
The foreword to the publication states: "The stories provide a brief summary of decent work-related challenges, how a response was organized and what results were realized. Their real value lies in the ideas and inspiration it provides for the future."
Eight of these stories focus on child labour, two relating to pilot projects of the programme Towards the Elimination of the worst forms of Child Labour (TECL) in Southern Africa. These are:
- Bring them water! Save the children from a chore that inhibits their development
- Action programme on children used by adults to commit crime (CUBAC).
