Host your project here

We can host your project on this website, provided it works directly on the elimination of child labour.

We will be happy to host your project on this website, especially if you are located within Africa.

For example, the IPEC project in Uganda on HIV/AIDS and child labour is considering setting up their site here.

We offer this hosting for free, as our contribution in collaborative efforts towards eliminating child labour in Africa.

What will you get

  • A quick and easy way to set up a website. [If you later want to start your OWN independent website, you can use the information as developed through this site.]
  • A place to share information about your project.
  • A basic site structure already set up. The initial structure will be the same as that of the South African section on this site. You would be able to change or add to that.
  • You would have all the functionality of our site, such as sharing documents, adding news reports, and a dedicated calendar and a forum where people can have web-discussions.
  • An intranet function where you can place information meant only for your own team's eyes can be placed. We are using this for information, files and documents that all team members regularly use, or need to be able to access.

See here for an example of the rights of team members (here regarding the Uganda team).

Our requirements

  • Commitment to drafting sufficient initial pages / information to make the section on your country / project freestanding and worthwhile.
  • Commitment to keeping your information up-to-date.
  • Commitment to adding current items (such as press reports) regularly (at least one a month; but preferably once a week)
  • Text styles should generally match the style of the rest of the site. You could do that by taking the relevant pages on the programme in South Africa, and amending it to be suitable to your project.

The web-address of your site

Your path to the web address would be similar to the Uganda address: www.child-labour.org.za/projects/uganda (not visible yet [#]). You could of course register a domain name, such as www.childlabour.org.ug , and arrange to point that name to your pages on this site. Registering a domain name should not cost more than about US$30 once off, plus another US$30 per year.

When to go live

To 'go live' means to make your web content visible to the world. Initially your content would not be visible, until it is 'Published'.

We would suggest that you do not go live until you have drafted sufficient information and content to make it worth telling others to 'go look at our website'.

The decision on when to go live is a joint one between you and the Webmaster of this site.
